Klarich
Elizabeth
Klarich is a consummate yoga teacher who shares with us the insight and
wisdom of decades of practice and life-experiences. She is also a gracious
volunteer of her time and energy working with severely ill and dying individuals.
Below is a short segment of an extensive dialogue we conducted with Elizabeth, which appears in its entirety in our book "Dialogues With Emerging Spiritual Teachers." Q. If someone were genuinely interested in studying with a spiritual teacher, what should they look for, and what would be the most appropriate attitude to take as a student? A. What I look for in a teacher is purity of intention, reverence, respect for people and for all of life. I look for simple kindness, sincerity and compassion. I want a teacher who creates a safe and caring environment. I look for humbleness and groundedness. I want a teacher who nurtures and uplifts my spirit. As a student, the most appropriate attitude to take is one of knowing that the one true guru is within. When looking to another person for learning, I keep solidly anchored in my own inner guru. I explore what needs I have and how I can ask this other person to help me meet those needs. For more information on Elizabeth
